COURSE DESCRIPTION
In one intensive weekend, acquire an introduction to authentic Argentine Tango as it was danced in the salons of Buenos Aires in the 1940s and 1950s, and as it is danced all over the world today. We learn the basics of walking chest-to-chest. We work with building block elements that allow us to move around together on a social dance floor. All students learn both lead and follow roles for a holistic understanding of the dance. We work with a highly effective curriculum originally innovated by The 8th Style School of Tango in Seattle, WA. We work with the classic Tangos from the Golden Age, the bedrock of a rich musical tradition that is very much alive today. Be prepared to make new friends! ABOUT MITRA AND STEFAN
Mitra Martin’s decade-long immersion and devotion to Argentine Tango began in 1998 in Buenos Aires. Stefan Fabry's career as a modern dance choreographer naturally translated to Tango when he saw Mitra dancing on the streets of Santa Monica. The two met in 2003 and have been dancing together ever since. Their partnership reflects their deeply personal experience of Tango dance and music, and their passion for the dance is infectious. Drawing on Mitra’s Montessori background and Fabry’s lifelong movement training, they teach in a way that unlocks the beauty, fun, and mystery of this dance for beginners.

WHEN, WHERE, COSTS, PAYMENT

• The Intensive takes place Saturday, May 23rd from 12-2pm and 3-5pm. During the 1-hour break on Saturday, you can explore the coffee-shops of local Mar Vista or the nearby park. On Sunday, May 24th, class is 1-3pm. Just enough time to hit the beautiful Mar Vista Farmer's Market beforehand.
• All classes take place at Tango Mar Vista, 12958 Washington Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90066.
• The cost of the intensive course, 3 2-hour workshops, is $65. This course fee is not refundable. We accept cash, checks, and PayPal.

• Pre-registration is mandatory and we suggest you register soon. It's perfect to participate with or without a partner. First come, first serve. Class size strictly limited to 15 leads/15 follows. We do our best to balance genders.

WHAT TO BRING
Bring a water bottle and snacks if you think you'll need them. You don't need to splurge on special dance shoes, just bring leather-soled shoes that stay firmly on your feet. We suggest a low heel for ladies and a narrow shoe for men. Wear comfortable clothes that allow freedom of movement and make you feel good. Bring a sense of curiosity, humor, patience, opennness, willingness to work hard. Be prepared to get close!
