NEWSFLASH - THE TANGO MAR VISTA THURSDAY PRACTICA "GRITTY, IRREVERENT" - APRIL 2009

MAR VISTA , CA --- In recent weeks, Tango dancers from the West Side of LA and beyond are gathering with increasing momentum and purpose at the eXtreme aXis Practica in Mar Vista between the hours of 9 and midnight.

The Practica, known widely as the ONLY practica on in Mar Vista on Thursday evenings (and even on the whole West Side of LA for that mattter) is most often described by participants as "awesome".

This event takes place in gritty Mar Vista, an irreverent enclave of Los Angeles, comfortably sandwich-ito'd between Culver City and Venice Beach, yet with its own unique and adorable personality.

Mar Vista is known for having plenty of parking and being only slightly sketchy. Due to the recent influx of art galleries and coffee shops, denizens of Mar Vista believe it is emerging to be "The Soho Of Los Angeles" -- someday!

More importantly for the Tango Glitterati of West LA and other cities and states, Mar Vista is the hub of the elusive, emerging "Estilo de Villa Mar Vista", which is being investigated through intensive study and application at this weekly Practica.

Recent Highlights of the eXtreme aXis practica include: Varo demonstrating the perilous "Dentist" move; Stefan covering the entire mirror with so-called "Improvisational Tiles"; Meng appearing with dark circles under his eyes after a shoot just in time to dance a few zippy milongas; and Simon looking on pensively.
